LDB Project for Diabetes Life Coaching
LDB Project is a memorial effort to a loving, generous person who died far too young as a result of type 2 Diabetes and related disorders. LDB was giving of time and money toward many of life’s injustices; however, it is the fight against the ravages of Diabetes for which LDB will be honored.
LDB Project provides life coaching through Gail-Elaine Tinker, M.S.’s Psychotherapy Services; offering life coaching for minimal or no cost expressly for Diabetics desiring to improve the quality of their lives while coping with this difficult disease. Candidates need not reside in the Lehigh Valley to apply (only plan to visit a few times at your cost).
Application by letter must be made to the LDB Project Director describing your history, diagnosis, and desire to cope more effectively, and personal goals. You need to provide a note from your physician stating that you are allowed to receive additional support for your Diabetes. There are a limited number of applicants which may be served per year; however, if you are accepted you will receive a free mental health evaluation before embarking upon your life coaching experience. All applications will receive response. A waiting list of qualified applicants will be established.
How does it work? (See Life Coaching button on main menu) One-on-one, we will discuss your doctor’s instructions and make sure you understand them. We will discuss your current life style, good and bad, and evaluate the goals you desire. Then, a personalized plan will be developed, so that your follow-through will happen. Now a coach will be on the sidelines of your life, much like the coaches for sports, to remind you of the plan you made, to evaluate your performance, and to inspire you when you are stuck. Life coaching is time limited, it may last anywhere from 8 to 24 weeks, rarely more.
There is no ‘correct way’ to approach this project because how you do it tells us how you intend to follow through and leads us to judge who to invest in. One candidate, half in jest, asked for her life version of “Extreme Home Makeover” complete with Gail-Elaine acting as Ty Pennington with bull-horn. It was a clever and humorous approach to address her fears of losing her eyesight to the disease. This told us she was ready for complete change, but what was SHE ready to do to make it happen? We look forward to your applications.
